Hi Internet Marketing Folks,
It’s been… A while since I have last updated my blog. I know that I wanted to create this blog to help newbies to be successful online, so let’s stick to that and start a fresh.
I have decided to make it a consistent effort to track what I am doing by creating a day to day record of what is going on in my internet marketing journey. Just a note: The day indicated doesn’t follow calendar year, rather it is based on the days that I spend on, in and around things revolving around internet marketing. I will do what is best to update most action and accomplishment in my posts and hopefully (finger cross) things would work out the way that I have planned.
So first thing first, I realised that I am quite a disorganised person. And from experience the days that I made money are usually days that follows organised effort and action towards internet marketing. So I figured that if I want to maintain consistency in making money online then the first and foremost important thing that anyone should do is to organise my life.
A quick update: I am currently still a student, I own a internet/marketing company that specialised in helping local business established a foothold online and for about a year now I am a Dad
Things have been quite a rollercoaster ride for me as my marriage didn’t quite worked out so well.
Well guess that is more info then necessary about my personal life. Let’s get back to organising and establishing a baseline for our internet empire.
Over the years there are a few consistent problems that I faced when it comes to Internet Marketing.
- Too many website to managed
- Traffic to website
- Conversion of traffic to sales
- Ways to monetised the different sites
- Not consistent in updating my sites
These would be the main things that I would focus on handling and you should be doing so as well.
Next, I realised that life outside of internet marketing plays a huge part in online success. Currently I have not found a method to create unlimited energy to do work so every effort in other areas of my life does affect my result online. So if you are like me, a student or that you have a full time job, you really need to allocate time and energy each day to direct your effort in creating success and wealth online.
A lesson that I like to share…
I learnt one of life’s most important lessons through brushing my teeth. I have to be honest one of the key thing to that I used to sustain my motivation, energy and effort in doing what I do and managing life with everything that it throws at me is to have a task that I can do consistently on a daily basis. And this task is none other than brushing my teeth. Sounds too easy? It is not the thing that I do that is the focus of this discussion, but the idea and the intention of committing to an action consistently which truly matters. In the book Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell the idea that anyone can be a master or a genius at anything after they have practice for 10,000 hours!! If you do a simple calculation…
Say you want to be a master in internet marketing and can commit up to 8 hours a day, it will still take you 3.5 years for anyone to reach that stage – [10,000 hours / 8 hours a day]/365 days =3.5 years
The thing that I have realised is that these numbers are quite accurate at least in my own experience. Of course with that being said it doesn’t mean that you will have to be a master before you earn any money online, quite the opposite, you should be making money during your journey to mastery in internet marketing.
Actionable points:
- Systemize your life by creating list, template, records or anything that can help you free up more time and energy to work on having a sustainable income online. One interesting book that you want to check out is How to Have a 48-Hour Day
by Don Aslett. Although the book looks as if it is only meant for kids, it did influence me to make some interesting adjustment to my life
- Plan the time that you are willing to commit to be a master in internet marketing. Is it going to be 3.5 years, 10 years or can you make it in one??? (I will share more on how to shorten your learning journey in a future post)
- Create one action that you NEED to sustain from today onwards, something that you have to fulfil no matter what happens to you. (There are a few occasions that I have to brush my teeth with my finger because the day was ending and I didn’t have my toothbrush with me). This is important as it helps build discipline and keep your mind focus on doing something consistently. Ideally you should have one action that is related to internet marketing and one that is not.
Till the next day,
Johnson
